New Wandering Wolf Video - "Shoeshine Boy"
"Shoeshine Boy" is a video clip offering a window into the early life of Wandering Wolf, and tells how an uneducated illiterate shoeshine boy learned some of the tools necessary to make change in governing western policy. Although he speaks Spanish, Wandering Wolf's native tongue is Quiche Maya so he had to learn Spanish on his own. Even though he has no formal education, today Wandering Wolf is not only the current President of Mayan Council of Guatemala, he is also serving his people as Guatemala's first ever Extraordinary Itinerant Ambassador of Indigenous Affairs in a government position created by his disciple, and current President of Guatemala, Alvaro Colom. With the help of Wandering Wolf, and in a groundbreaking move toward national reconciliation and unity among its peoples, the Guatemalan government has finally formally recognized the Maya and other native cultures in this Central American nation, granting them an official government seat to represent their rights and interests!
The footage for "Shoeshine Boy" was shot in Guatemala between 2006-2008, the Guatemalan boy who plays young Wandering Wolf often asks mutual friends about Shift of the Ages and is waiting patiently for the completion of the film.
