Ambassador Spotlight – Michael Shore of Mayan Majix
Each issue, we will have an Ambassador Spotlight, introducing you to one of our Ambassadors. This month, we would like to introduce you to Community Ambassador and Shift of the Ages Affiliate, Mike Shore:
About Mike
Mike has had many experiences as a child that awakened his curiosity in ancient cultures and spirituality. He gives his dad a lot of the credit. Mike's father was a history buff, Boy Scout Leader and adventurer. He took his children to natural history museums, historic sites and traveling adventures where they learned about native peoples. During one adventure in particular, when Mike was 14 years-old, their family went to the Yucatan, Mexico. This was the first time Mike was exposed to the Maya, and it left a lasting impression.
In college, he studied anthropology and psychology at the University of Houston. It was no coincidence that the majority of anthropology professors did their field work studying the Maya. Mike first traveled to the Mayan sites of Chichen Itza and Tulum in 1987. He returned several more times before completing a Master’s degree in Behavioral Science. These travels affected him so deeply that he and his wife decided to sponsor a 3 year-old Guatemalan boy through Children’s International.
In the mid 1990’s, Mike developed an interest in alternative health, quantum physics, and ancient spirituality. Through serendipitous events, he stumbled upon the teachings of the Flower of Life, which explored the development of mankind’s creation patterns from ancient civilizations to our present evolution. It was through the Flower of Life meditation instructor that Mike was introduced to Ian Xel Lungold, founder of Mayan Majix. This was a major synchronism that changed Mike's life. Ian’s energy and enthusiasm was so contagious that Mike offered to build the website. The first version of Mayan Majix went online in 1998.
Being Ian’s webmaster was very exciting for Mike. He found himself involved in so many things that stretched his mind on all levels. One peak experience was in 2001, when Ian was interviewed by Art Bell on Coast to Coast AM radio. This interview brought a tidal wave of interest to Mayan Majix and showed Mike the potential of reaching a global audience. In 2003, with the success of Ian’s 'Mayan Calendar Videos', Mike found himself confronted with an important decision. He followed his heart, making the decision to leave the 3D Graphics company he co-founded and focus full-time as Webmaster of Mayan Majix.
In 2005, Ian was diagnosed with throat cancer. This was one of the most challenging and intense years of Mike's life, culminating with Ian passing on November 16, 2005. Ian’s partner, Madaline Weber, and Mike promised Ian they would carry on his work informing people about the Mayan calendar. They have been continually amazed by the international support for Ian’s work. He was a spiritual pioneer who left his mark opening our awareness into the world’s state of consciousness and our personal evolution of consciousness through the Mayan calendar.
Mike reflects, "This 12-year journey has been more than I could ever have imagined, with many thrills, chills, and quantum expansions. As we approach the end of the Mayan calendar, I am proud to say that Mayan Majix is sharing the Mayan calendar in nine languages and networks globally with remarkable people and spiritual organizations. This, I feel is what Ian wanted and intuitively; I sense him smiling."
Mayan Majix networks globally with people and organizations sharing the Mayan calendar. About four years ago, they met SOTA Director Steve Copeland and learned about The Shift of the Ages film project. Madaline and Mike are in full alignment with Steve’s vision and do whatever they can to assist in helping to bring The Shift of the Ages film to completion. Currently, they use their newsletter and website to inform people about the film’s progress and the Ambassador program. They feel that the wise words of Mayan Elder Don Alejandro must be heard by as many people as possible at this important time in our history.
Since he has become a Shift of the Ages Ambassador-Affiliate, Mike has generated over 3,000 visits to the SOTA website and has introduced about 200 new people to our newsletter. His help in sharing the Authentic Mayan Message is making a real difference, thank you Mike!
