Example
We all have good and bad qualities. That is just a fact of life. But our bad qualities can be turned around to benefit us and those around us. This is how each of us are perfect. We are the way we are deep inside because that is who we are supposed to be, ourselves.
An example of how I am a piece of the whole world, both it's problems and it's solutions...
I have been completely blind in my right eye since I was 12, and "legally" blind in my left eye since I was 28. I am now 41.
This is a major part of who I am, but it is not completely me. I am also a mother, a thinker, a comforter, an advisor and a true friend to those i care for. Which is everyone, even the one's my personality conflicts with, I am still a friend to them.
But going back to my vision, this is the example I wanted to primarily discuss.
I do not see my vision as a punishment or "Why Me?" situation. Without this "disability" I would have never been able to explore my true self. It is actually a gift. I see things that no one else sees. My distorted visual capacity actually lets me see faces in trees, images of spirits on occasion, let's me see body language when talking to someone instead of just their words and their faces. I can actually see in their eyes when something is wrong or good in their lives when I am up close. So many times, people don't realize how much they take for granted their vision and don't see what is truly in front of them. But I can't see what is in front of me sometimes too, but that is just the surface part, not the deeper meaning part.
Some people think I am the poor blind woman who needs their help. i know their intentions are good. But it is funny, the people closest to me forget that I am legally blind completely until they see me reading. With my face pressed near the book, or a magnifier on the screen, or when I jokingly say "I'll drive". That one gets them every time. But seriously, they forget I am this way because I do not play the victim or ask for their pity or sympathy.
(This is the example part) In respect to my vision, I am like the millions of people in the world who need help from others but know I can do things myself. Pride and other reasons are the part that hold me back from asking for help like so many in the world. And then others don't know how to ask for it.
I live in an area that offers partial mass transportation, but you have to be able to get to the transportation to use it. Quite ironic I think and funny in a way.
So, I have to plan my outings, using other people to get me there and work around their schedules. With two teenagers that don't drive yet, this triples my scheduling capability. I have to know everyone's schedules, not ask the same people each time, and not just go where I want when I want. Only to places I NEED to go to.
I have to be on hold when asking, and cannot commit to anything until rides are obtained. This is frustrating, but can be done. I am "conditioned" to think like this.
(This is the example part) I am like the people and the government at the same time. As the people, I wait for someone to say yes so I can do something.
But like the government, I plan in my head how this will be accomplished and make sure it is okay with the people. Having them help me because they know it is right. (OKAY, I DON'T THINK THAT WAY WHEN ASKING, BUT GOVERNMENTS DO).
There is so much help needed in the world. Not charity, actual help. Learning from and teaching from others. Just asking for or giving money isn't the only help the world needs. The world needs volunteers even more. There are so many people in the USA and the world that don't have jobs, so they think they cannot volunteer because all their focus is on getting a JOB (Just Over Broke) to take care of their family. And they can help when they get situated.
It's kinda like saying "I can't have children until I can afford them." We all know that there is never enough money to raise children without struggle. But the statement should be "I will have children when I can love them completely." which means anytime. love is the one thing WE have an abundance of and it is supposed to be shared. Everyone knows that too.
Think of your own story of your life, pretty much you have the same situation in example.
Let me know your examples....
In Light and Love,
Namaste,
